So I did a thing, or two. I started a new website because I missed having a place of my own to ponder out loud about things that deeply interest me, and would benefit from discussion. So to kick things off, I wrote a 5-part public service thriller, because why not?
No, just joking. Well, sort of. I promise there will be no dead bodies.
But I’ve been bumping up against a thing lately.
Leading design research for transforming or connecting a public service, policy or digital product means designers and policy people and technologists sit together and start with this powerful question: what does a person need? What is their situation? What are the events in their life that bring them to needing this government service?
They are good questions. But I’m starting to think there is another question left Un/Stated, and it whirrs, spins and runs in the undercurrent.
It is this question that the new 5-part series “Administrative Truth: What Lies Beneath” is built on.
What does the system* already believe about you?
And is that belief true?
